MONEI is a payments API provider enabling businesses to process payments via a unified API supporting multiple methods like cards, PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.

We worked with MONEI to overhaul their API reference docs, introducing interactive API examples, and implementing powerful search functionality across all content.

The challenge

As MONEI's platform evolved, they needed a scalable docs system. Key goals included migrating to Docusaurus v3, automating GraphQL references, unifying search, and creating a consistent developer experience across all docs.

Our approach

Upgrading to Docusaurus v3 and enabling cross-site search

We upgraded the site to Docusaurus v3, unlocking:

  • Faster load times and better performance
  • Compatibility with modern plugins and tooling
  • Seamless integration of Algolia DocSearch for cross-site search

API-first reference docs from source contracts

We adopted an API-first workflow, treating OpenAPI specs and GraphQL schemas as the single sources of truth. This approach made the documentation:

  • Consistent across REST, GraphQL, and main docs content.
  • Reliable, staying in sync with the live API as definitions evolve.
  • Efficient to update, with new endpoints and changes requiring minimal manual work.

REST API

  • Endpoint references with live previews
  • Multi-language code examples
  • Authentication and error handling

GraphQL API

  • Schema browser and query explorer
  • Type definitions with descriptions
  • Example queries and mutations

Preserving URLs with dynamic redirects

To maintain continuity, we introduced dynamic redirects that automatically mapped legacy routes to new paths, preserving:

  • Deep links to documentation
  • SEO value and external references
  • A reliable navigation experience

The outcome

By adopting an API-first workflow and upgrading to Docusaurus v3, we helped MONEI enhance their documentation platform.

The new system enables consistent, source-driven documentation across REST and GraphQL APIs, reduces manual maintenance, and improves discoverability with powerful search functionality.

These changes not only enhance the developer experience but also support MONEI's mission to simplify payment integration.

Tech stack

  • Docusaurus v3
  • TypeScript
  • OpenAPI
  • GraphQL
  • Algolia Search
  • React
  • MDX

What stood out about TechDocs Studio was how collaborative and proactive they were—asking the right questions, working quickly, and focusing on the end-user. The result exceeded expectations: technically solid, visually refined, and easy to navigate. It genuinely raises the bar for how we present ourselves to developers.

If you want a team that blends technical skill with thoughtful design and a smooth process, they’re it.
